Nolvadex Good Enough PCT

Is Taking Only Nolvadex Good Enough PCT After The Testosterone Cycle?

The main purpose of Post Cycle Therapy (PCT) is to restore the body’s natural testosterone production as fast as possible.

Testosterone is what makes a man, so you want your levels back up if you’ve been on a steroid cycle.

Also important for PCT after the testosterone cycle is to combat estrogenic side effects from aromatizing steroids, such as gyno and headache, with an anti-estrogen.

Nolvadex (Tamoxifen) is only a selective estrogen receptor modulator that blocks the receptors where estrogens attach in various tissues like bone and breast tissue but allows them to have their effects elsewhere in the body. It will have no binding ability in muscle tissue or in the brain.

I was wondering if it would be good enough to take only Nolvadex during PCT after the testosterone cycle in order to restore my natural levels faster. What are your thoughts?

Nolvadex is a treatment for breast cancer, not a PCT drug. You can take anti-estrogen drugs like clomiphene citrate (Clomid) or tamoxifen citrate (Nolvadex) when preparing for competition by lowering estrogen levels, but not when trying to recover from anabolic steroid cycles.

This is because these treatments do not work well when you already have low estrogen levels. They often don’t work at all. In fact, because they then bind with the estrogen receptors better than estradiol (the natural estrogen).

Their main job is to help you recover natural testosterone production after a cycle. They also raise the LH level, further helping that process. This effect can be enhanced by using HCG post-cycle. There are other, stronger treatments like Proviron and anastrozole (Arimidex), but these are normally used in medical practice for more specific uses like fighting certain types of breast cancer.

Also, if your aim is to become as muscular as possible, why on earth would you reduce your natural testosterone? Natural testosterone will build muscle more efficiently than any synthetic drug! If anything, you want to maintain it at high levels during PCT with hCG or Clomid.

As a final note, since Nolvadex and Proviron normally take around 2-3 weeks to start working, they won’t do you much good if your testosterone levels are already low. That’s why we usually recommend using HCG very early on in PCT for this exact reason.

Summary:

Taking only Nolvadex is not effective as PCT after the testosterone cycle. It only works well when used as an anti-estrogen during preparation for a competition or photo shoot. It does not work well with low estrogen levels because it binds better with estrogen receptors than endogenous estradiol (the natural steroid hormone). Has no binding ability in muscle tissue or the brain (does not affect testosterone levels in the blood). Used to help restore natural testosterone production after a cycle. Anti-estrogen treatments like clomiphene citrate (Clomid) and tamoxifen citrate (Nolvadex) should be combined with HCG post-cycle for best results.
