How effective is Anabol-5 Nutrex?

Anabol-5 Nutrex is a supplement manufactured by Nutrex Research. The ingredients of this product are Vitamin D3, Wild Yam Root Extract, Tongkat Ali extract, Tribulus Terrestris extract, and Eurycoma longifolia extract. According to the manufacturer’s website, Anabol-5 Nutrex is used for muscle gains.

What does the research say?

A study was conducted on mice, comparing a water extract of wild yam with an anabolic steroid, and found that the former may have some potential as a progestin-based contraceptive [1]. A different study evaluated 60 test subjects, 30 men and 30 women, who were provided a daily supplement consisting of 400 milligrams of Tribulus Terrestris over an eight-week time frame [2]. There was no difference between groups in muscle strength or endurance. At eight weeks, there was also no difference between groups for total testosterone levels. However, free testosterone levels were significantly increased in male subjects when compared to placebo. In addition, there were increases in sexual desire in females but not the frequency of sexual activity, suggesting that Tribulus Terrestris does not provide sexual arousal benefits. Another study compared the effects of a juice extract of Eurycoma longifolia to a placebo on male subjects with hypogonadism [3]. Treatment for six months showed improvements in fatigue levels in both groups but no differences in testosterone levels. Finally, a study in 2005 looked at the effect of giving testosterone replacement in men who had low or low-normal testosterone levels [4]. Subjects were given 50 milligrams, 125 milligrams, 250 milligrams, or 500-milligram doses of Androderm daily for one week each. When compared to placebo, there was an initial increase in serum total testosterone levels when they started taking it. However, after one week, these levels began to drop, and by the end of the study, they had decreased into a hypogonadal range.

Are there any side effects?

According to a clinical trial conducted on subjects with low testosterone, administration of Androderm increased total cholesterol levels in some issues [4]. In another study, researchers found that long-term supplementation for one year led to an increase in serum LDL levels which could be harmful if left untreated [5]. In 2005 a dosage as high as 600 milligrams was given to hypertensive patients over 16 weeks, resulting in significant increases in systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure [6]. Another study showed that prolonged use of higher dosages of Androderm leads to decreases in bone mineral density in both sexes [7].

Male subjects may experience acne, itching, and possibly testicular atrophy when using Androderm [8]. Anabol-5 Nutrex users should also note that the FDA has not evaluated this supplement for safety or effectiveness.

Conclusion: Although the ingredient profile of Anabol-5 Nutrex is similar to supplements like Testogen and Prime Male, it does not appear to be as effective. No clinical studies are showing its benefits associated with muscle mass gains or recovery. In addition, it seems that Tribulus Terrestris has mixed results regarding its sexual arousal claims which could mean taking it would provide false hope for men seeking increased libido. According to one study, there might be an increase in testosterone levels, but this study has not been replicated. Also, there is a lack of information on the manufacturer’s website about the effectiveness of Anabol-5 Nutrex.

There are no studies to support any claims made by Anabol-5 Nutrex at this time. The manufacturer does appear to be reputable and professional; however, it would be best to take their word with a grain of salt until more data is available regarding its safety and efficacy for muscle gains.
